The UCLA campus is scheduled to close for its annual Winter Holiday starting Saturday, December 23, 2006, through Monday, January 1, 2007, and will reopen on Tuesday, January 2, 2007. The annual closure has allowed UCLA to achieve energy savings and continues to be a highly effective approach to power conservation. Several University holidays will be observed while the campus is closed, including December 25, 26 and 29, and January 1, 2007. Since December 27 and 28 are not paid holidays, staff who accrue vacation leave will need to use either vacation, compensatory time (if available) or leave without pay to compensate for these two work days. Consistent with last year's approach, and in accordance with University personnel policies and applicable labor agreements, employees have the choice of the following options to cover the non-paid holidays:
In accordance with regular procedures for scheduling vacation, employees should notify their respective supervisors in advance as to which option or combination of options they propose to use. For questions concerning the 2006-2007 Winter Holiday campus closure, please contact Campus Human Resources (x43147) or Healthcare Human Resources (x40500). |
