Exit Interview Survey

External Affairs will be rolling out a new Exit Interview Survey as of October 2005. This survey will be administered as part of the exit process, which will assist in gauging ways to improve workplace practices and the environment as well as organizational culture.

The Exit Interview process will consist of:

  • A 10 – 15 minute online survey
  • Face-to-face interviews with an EA-HR staff member available upon request
  • Reporting capabilities to capture results/trends and assist in directing change

The benefits of implementing an online survey include documented feedback, consistent data collection, confidential means to gather information, measurable data to support retention initiatives/interventions.

EA-HRD developed this survey with a third-party vendor, Integral Talent Systems (ITS). They have been an industry leader in employee retention since 1992 and have the ability to provide an integrated approach for our EA retention strategy. Utilizing a third party to collect and store exit interview data will ensure greater confidentiality to staff, improved quality of data, validated survey questions, expert analysis and recommendations.

     October 2005 Merit Increases

Policy-Covered Employees Designated as Management and Senior Professionals (MSP), Professional Support Staff (PSS), and Information Technology Professionals (ITP):

The new State budget provides funding for increases in UC salaries; the FY 05-06 funding pool for merit increases is 3.5%. Salary ranges will also be adjusted by 3.5% for open-range salary structures. All salaries (after increases) must be within the new ranges.

Merit increases are effective October 1, 2005. Employees in career positions by April 1, 2005, and with current appointments in merit-based positions, are eligible to receive an increase.

The new salaries and retroactive pay will be reflected on the December 1, 2005, paychecks for employees on a monthly schedule.

External Affairs leadership will be meeting to discuss the distribution of the merit pool and to establish internal guidelines that will be applied equitably across the organization.

As part of the salary program for policy-covered staff employees, departments will also be provided funding to address salary equity needs, including external market lags and individual salary equity issues.

Employees Represented by Collective Bargaining Units:

Salary actions for exclusively represented employees are determined in accordance with applicable collective bargaining agreements and/or meeting-and-conferring as appropriate under the Higher Education Employer-Employee Relations Act.

Coalition of University Employees (CUE) and Technical (UPTE) represented employees' contract negotiations are still in process and those employees will be notified when any wage increase agreement has been reached.
